“Fairmont Château Laurier: Bring back fired steward!”: SEIU Local 2 to hold rally outside Ottawa hotel to demand reinstatement of worker
OTTAWA, Ontario, Sept. 11, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- SEIU Local 2 and allies are set to hold a rally outside the Fairmont Château Laurier to demand the reinstatement of a janitor fired as retaliation for raising concerns about working conditions.
A union member and steward working at Fairmont Château Laurier, employed by the cleaning contractor ServeGreen, was fired after the union put forward an Unfair Labour Practice complaint citing threats, intimidation, and coercion against members.
The union is calling on the hotel to hold the contractor it hired accountable, reinstate this worker, and ensure he gets paid retroactively.
