Los Angeles Public Library Celebrates Latino Heritage Month With Eighth Annual L.A. Libros Festival Featuring Authors, Artists, Workshops, and Entertainment
Bilingual Family Event Set For Saturday, Sept. 26, at Central Library, Downtown L.A.
LOS ANGELES, Sept. 09, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- In celebration of Latino Heritage Month, the Los Angeles Public Library will present the Eighth Annual Los Angeles Libros Festival, the city’s largest celebration of bilingual books and literacy, on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Central Library (630 W. 5th Street, Los Angeles, CA 90071) along with other activities throughout the month.
The free event will feature Spanish and bilingual storytelling, performances, art workshops, and authors for all ages. The Festival is the biggest yet with a lineup featuring 25 programs, 17 authors, and two musical acts representing eight countries.
"The Los Angeles Libros Festival is a joyful celebration of language, culture, and the power of stories to bring people together," said City Librarian John F. Szabo. "We are proud to welcome Angelenos of all ages for a day that celebrates the rich diversity of our communities through books, art, music, and performances."
This year’s featured guest is Reyna Grande, award-winning author of “The Distance Between Us,” who will discuss her newest memoir, “Migrant Heart: Essays on Things I Can’t Forget.” The Festival will also welcome Mariachi Arco•Iris de Los Angeles, the world's first LGBTQ+ mariachi, and John Parra, bestselling author and illustrator. Attendees can also enjoy workshops with Self Help Graphics & Art and Tía Chucha’s Centro Cultural, custom bilingual typewriter poetry, and the Guinness World Records largest pop-up book.
